Nurse Managers: Nursing Leadership Academy
The Nursing Leadership Academy is a shared endeavor of the Advisory Board and the nation’s leading hospitals and health systems—joined in the purpose of building the leadership rank in nursing and equipping nursing leaders with the skills required to advance patient care excellence and efficiency. Through a shared national-standard curriculum tailored to the needs of nursing leaders, the Nursing Leadership Academy supports a robust program for optimizing performance in hospital nursing. While offering educational opportunities for the entire nursing leadership team, the principal focus of the Nursing Leadership Academy curriculum is on the development needs of nurse managers.
Curriculum
The Nursing Leadership Academy offers a wide range of courses on advanced leadership, business, and operations skills specific to nursing leadership roles. New course modules are added each year to expose managers to more advanced topics that build on the foundation established in earlier courses. Course topics include:

Delivery Method
Courses are structured in trimesters and conducted on site; sessions are provided for both participants and nursing leadership.
Staffing
The Nursing Leadership Academy has dedicated a full-time staff of researchers, education specialists, and faculty to the task of developing and teaching the Nursing Leadership Academy curriculum. Faulty members include experienced nurse executives, nurse managers, and expert facilitators.
